    Shopping Groceries: Ingredients Required

    Items Quantity Serving for 3/4
    Gobindobogh Rice 1 cup
    Ghee 2-3 tablespoon
    Water 2 cups
    Sugar 4-5 teaspoon
    Salt ½ teaspoon
    Turmeric Powder ½ teaspoon
    Bay leaves 2-3
    Cardamom 5-6
    Cinnamon stick 1 small piece
    Cloves 2-3 pieces
    Cashew nuts 10
    Raisins 10-11
    Saffron Strands 5-6
    Milk 1 Tablespoon

    Preparing the Ingredients

    • Start by preparing rice for the Basanti Pulao recipe. For this Bengali Basanti Pulao recipe, make sure to use Godindobhog rice for an extra flavour and texture. While shopping groceries online or offline, Gobindobogh rice is widely available and can be bought easily. Take one cup of the rice and soak it in water for 10-15 minutes. After soaking, strain the water and keep the rice aside.
    • To prepare the listed dry fruits, like cashews and raisins, you can dry roast them for added crunch and flavour. Heat a pan to low flame, and roast the dry fruits until they turn brownish. 
    • Next, prepare the saffron strands for the Basanti Pulao recipe by soaking them in a tablespoonful of milk for 2-3 hours. This will enhance the aroma and flavours of the pulao. 

    Instructions

    1. Put some ghee in a pan, and add whole spices like cardamom, cinnamon stick or dalchini, bay leaves, and cloves once the oil reaches medium heat.
    2. After the spices get a little cooked, quickly add roasted dry fruits to the mix. When shopping groceries always ensure to buy premium quality ingredients for best results.
    3. Now add the soaked rice and stir it for a while till each grain is nicely coated with ghee. Add water and stir again. In the end, put sugar, salt, and turmeric powder in a super taste.
    4. Cook the rice for 10-15 minutes. Keep checking in between to ensure it cooks well and does not burn. While you can cook this recipe in a pressure cooker, cooking it in open pan makes it a lot better and gives it a fluffy texture.
    5. Once the rice is cooked well, garnish it with saffron strands to boost the aroma and flavour.
